Postponed: Meet the Author – The Caledonians: Mr Petrie’s Apprentice

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the following event has been postponed. We will share further information once rescheduled. In the meantime, why not buy a copy of The Caledonians: Mr Petrie’s Apprentice from Wordery (https://bit.ly/3aB60rM), or another online book retailer?

FREE EVENT!

Join us at the Royal Hotel in Jedburgh to meet local author Yvonne Ridley and discover The Caledonians trilogy.

Yvonne Ridley

An experienced former Fleet Street journalist, Yvonne’s previous best seller, In The Hands of the Taliban, recounted her real life kidnap and detention by The Taliban in Afghanistan.

In Mr Petrie’s Apprentice, her first novel, Yvonne combines her investigative skills with a rich imagination, weaving historical facts from our rich Scottish history into a modern fantasy, time travelling adventure. What connects Mr Petrie, a Scottish history master with the gift of eternal life, with Duncan Dewar, the schoolboy grandson of a clockmaker? What is the Council of Anam Cara? Can they thwart the evil forces threatening society as we know it?

While written primarily for young adults, Mr Petrie’s Apprentice is a rip-roaring adventure for adult readers too.

Join us from 6 – 8pm on Wednesday 18 March for this free event!

Edinburgh Festival Fringe – recommendation

Going to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe?

For anyone travelling to or from Edinburgh, Jedburgh is a great stop off on the way there or the way home. Make your accommodation bookings directly on the Royal Hotel website.

Our recommendation if you’re visiting the Edinburgh Festival Fringe:

Established Borders playwright Jules Horne has collaborated once again with the award winning Nutshell Theatre to bring her play ‘Handfast’ to the stage, where it is enjoying rave reviews:

‘…a massive, life-affirming hug of a play… hugely skilled actors… every line and gesture an authentic nugget of life…’

We’ve bought our tickets – and are looking forward to the short trip up to Edinburgh later this week!
